Inside Bank of America Stadium’s $50 million renovations, Hollman helps create Charlotte’s newest soccer club locker room.
After a delay due to COVID-19, the Charlotte Football Club (Charlotte FC) made its inaugural debut this past February at the Bank of America Stadium. The team, which shares the venue with the Carolina Panthers, was led on with a renovation to include the club with their own space inside the stadium. With the goal of raising the standard for Major League Soccer venues in the United States, the $50 million dollar renovation demonstrates to competitors that Charlotte FC is the new standard.
One of the most vital upgrades to the stadium was including a club-only locker room, deeming it a viable necessity for the new team’s success. Hollman teamed up with Populous’ Dallas office to create a design that both honored the club’s European roots and the rich traditions of Charlotte, North Carolina.
“The stadium enhancements are designed to provide the ideal environment for soccer. We looked at Premier League venues and many other stadiums around the world to ensure this is a truly great experience for our players and fans”, exclaims Mark Hart, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Tepper Sports & Entertainment.
Hollman’s team took large attention to detail when it came to designing the locker room including a polished design where primary storage was hidden in the interior of the locker. The custom Nanolam design included a fully ventilated system to decrease drying time and odor, multi-cleat storage drawers, custom marine grade double stitched vinyl cushions, and a personal lockbox with Digilock’s Digilock Axis for security.
Customization played a huge part in designing the club’s dream locker including player personalization options with magnetic laminate on the backside of the storage door for displaying personal belongings, removable backlit top panel, and custom laser engraved game day hooks to show off the club’s logo.
“This locker room will rival any soccer locker room in the world,” says Hart, “A soccer locker room is very different from an NFL locker room: there are very specific warm-up and training areas, and the space needs to be more intimate. Hence, it was very important for us to create separate locker rooms for soccer, giving a permanent presence for our players, coaches and staff”.
The renovations debuted on March 5th, and with the help of Hollman, Inc., the newest football club had a great first impression.
