Project Insights: Chicago Cubs Baseball Locker Room

Chicago Cubs New Clubhouse is “A Sight To Behold” with Hollman Athletic Lockers

By Cody Stavenhagen MLB.com

CHICAGO — Theo Epstein, the Chicago Cubs president of baseball operations, said that he felt like an interior designer in the years and months he spent seeking player input on the team’s new 30,000-square-foot clubhouse.

The result is a players’ paradise three times larger than the old space. Epstein said the opening of the facility means the Chicago Cubs will likely try to host free agents in the offseason as opposed to traveling to meet them, as they often did in the past.

Project Insights: Dallas Mavericks’ Basketball Locker Room

The Dallas Mavericks’ basketball locker room was designed in partnership with Gensler featuring Hollman Athletic Lockers

The Dallas Mavericks basketball locker room, designed in partnership with Gensler, is state-of-the-art and geared for peak performance. The players can access a wide range of special amenities, including a personal safe, unique tablet docking station, refrigerated cup holder, flat-screen television, and ventilated drawers where up to eight pairs of shoes can air out.

Mark Cuban and the Mavs unveiled their new digs on Saturday afternoon, showing off major renovations to the locker room and training area. Every aspect of design was backed by science and research as Cuban said he wanted a competitive edge in every possible way.

The lights and colors are specifically picked to promote “physical and mental realization.” Cuban said he talked to casinos about how they keep people comfortable and alert 24 hours a day, which Cuban said was linked to flowing in fresh oxygen at maximum levels. He said, spend a few minutes inside the Mavs new basketball locker room and you’ll feel like you can go run a mile.

Each locker comes with a host of new features. There’s a dock to load a tablet containing useful team information, schedules, etc. A refrigerated cup holder, a flat-screen TV, and ventilated drawers round out the amenities.

We are thrilled to death with what Hollman has been able to do with our lockers.

First class, on schedule, on time, on budget, trustworthy — They delivered in every way.

The training area also got a new overhaul, with new equipment (Cuban’s Stairmaster that he uses while talking to the media still made it) with new showers, bathrooms and training pools. When you enter the main entrance where the training room is, you walk right into a trophy case featuring the three trophies the Mavs have collected from the 2011 title and two Western Conference Finals wins.

There’s also a lot of local flair, with the Dallas skyline in each of the jersey hangers and Cuban said “98 percent” of the hours worked on this project were from Dallas-based companies.

Locker Room for the Houston Astros and the Washington Nationals: State-of-the-art training facility features Hollman Athletic Lockers

The Washington Nationals and Houston Astros have officially opened The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches! Located in West Palm Beach, FL, the brand new, state-of-the-art training facility includes multiple fields, a recreational park and an array of amenities for guests. The Astros’ fields occupy the north side of the complex, while Washington’s fields can be found to the south.

Will Kubzanksy, contributor for Federal Baseball wrote, “The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches is a nice stadium. […] [T]here’s not a bad seat in the house, a good-looking scoreboard, and nice amenities, including a really, really big Curly W — so if you have the chance, definitely go to a game.

Three of the 12 practice fields were built with outfield dimensions matching Minute Maid Park in Houston, and Nationals Park in Washington to help Astros and Nationals players get re-acquainted with their regular-season ballparks.

According to BallparkDigest.com, “One thing this design maintains from the previous Osceola County Stadium design: The Astros are keeping the player parade to and from the clubhouse. Astros players tend to be very accessible to fans during spring training, and one reason (was) the pathway between the left-field clubhouse and the Osceola County Stadium playing field.”

The principal architect of the Ballpark of the Palm Beaches, Mo Stein, commented, “One of the great joys in baseball is you can be so much closer to the action than in any other sport, and that’s what we’ve emphasized with our new venue.”

“Sometimes the best spring sightings can be found on the practice fields—the staff ace working on his pick-off move, the everyday infielders refining their double-play throws.”

“Fans interested in the daily workouts will have easy access and a chance to get autographs,” says Stein. “Fans who want to focus on the game experience will be very comfortable, too.”

Texas A&M Football Locker Room Exclusive By USA Today

When the Texas A&M football team arrived at fall camp Thursday, they had a nice surprise waiting for them: a brand new Texas A&M football locker room.

The Bright Complex, the home of the Aggies football program, is undergoing a massive renovation that in total, is a $20.8 million project. The team areas alone, which include the Texas A&M football locker rooms, hallways, meeting rooms, sports medicine facility and hydrotherapy pool for example, cost $16.8 million. This is in addition to the Kyle Field renovations, a $450 million campaign that is expected to be completed in 2015.

Some cool features include a private barbershop (something that seems to be all the rage in new football facilities these days), HDTVs mounted inside the walls around the hydrotherapy pool, and LED screens above each locker that displays information about that particular player.
